In June, we were back to one of our favorite cities in Italy: Florence, for a sweet and bubbly elopement with two lovebirds from the US.
Melissa and Matt eloped in our beloved Florence in an amazing villa with only a few family members witnessing their vows and Love. We have been excited about their elopement since we first talked on Skype: Matt was running to work, Melissa was telling us about her requests and importance of family photos. Then finally the day arrived and we took the train to Florence eager to be meeting our cute couple. They themselves got to Tuscany in a turbine of bad luck: their flight was cancelled and they had to drive all the way to the nearest airport – 6 hours drive – to take the plane! Some of their family members, who were coming for a couple different cities from the US, had all their luggage lost, including the suits to be worn for the big day! Can you just imagine the stress and anxiety that they could have felt?
Luckily, Melissa and Matt were prepared and could keep cool enough, so that when coming down their hotel to finally meet in person, they were bringing along a bottle of champagne, too! Wasn’t that the perfect beginning of celebrating their elopement in Tuscany? We went back to the one place they used to hang out while both being in college in Italy a few years before: Piazzale Michelangelo, the top of Florence, the place where they met and fell in love.
The sun was truly harsh and hot, and the location quite busy with tourists, we found some beautiful hidden alleys in the shadows where the view was simply ah-mazing. That absolutely stunning view on the Santa Maria del Fiore, main cathedral of the Tuscan city! These two lovebirds were truly the sweetest with each other and we could not be happier for them to have tied the knot in such an iconic city.
